WSL and Championship Week 20

Brighton vs Birmingham

1-3

Emily Ramsey produced one of her best performances of the season for her side as they came out on top over Maisie Symonds Brighton’s team. The Manchester United goalkeeper showed her class for her loan side, making save after save. Symonds featured in the second half and looked lively providing the late assist as Brighton lost 3-1 to The Blues.

Super Keeper: Emily Ramsey

Manchester City vs Leicester City

4-0

Molly Pike was in for a tough test against a strong City team and it proved too much for The Foxes as they lost 4-0 after battling very hard. Pike was very solid in the midfield but her side just could not get into the game, as City went away with 3 points, catching up to rivals, Manchester United for 3r place.

Reading vs West Ham

1-2

Mel filis and Lois Joel both made late appearances as their side took home all 3 points. The Hammers started off brightly but had to wait until the second half to break the deadlock and doubled their lead shortly after. Reading pulled one back but it was nothing more than a consolation goal.

18:00:

Aston Villa vs Manchester United

0-0

Three FORTE players were in action in this highly competitive match that ended up in a stalemate with the points shared. Once again, Maz Pacheco started for Villa at left back whilst United’s two punch of Leah Galton and Alessia Russo started. The Red Devils were dominant throughout the match but Villa’s defense was very strong, blocking many shots and clearing their lines well as Maz led from the back. The best chance for United came from Galton as she laid the ball across the goal but her striker could not find the back of the net.

FA Women’s Championship

Blackburn Rovers vs Charlton

0-3

Blanchard was in the lineup for Blackburn as they lost 3-0 to Charlton in a disappointing result. The away side scored all 3 of their goals in the first half as they came out flying. The Rovers struggled to contain Charlton’s fast counter attacks. The loss sees Blackburn remain in 10th place.

Crystal Palace vs Watford

2-1

Issy Sibley, Millie Farrow and Aimee Everett (Crystal Palace)

Our trio of Palace players started for The Eagles as they faced Watford at home. 21 year old, Everett has been a steady influence all season long for her side from the midfield, she provided the assist for the opening goal after winning the ball back and lifting it over the oppositions defense to let her striker through on goal. Farrow early made it 3 for her side but hit the post after a long mazy run. Watford pulled one back but the home side were strong enough to keep hold of all 3 points.

Bristol City vs London City

1-3

Aimee Palmer was out for this one after an injury whilst Cataldo made a late appearance off the bench for Bristol. London City started very quickly and were up 2-0 within the first 20 minutes but City made it 2-1 soon after. The match ended 3-1 after a goal less second half that Bristol just could not manage to get into the game.
