Women's Football Weekend
WSL Week 7
Everton vs Manchester United
1-1
Our most recent addition to the FORTE team Leah Galton was in action against Spurs with teammate Alessia Russo for Manchester United. The opening goal was started from another powerful run from Russo who picked up the ball on the edge of her own box and ran forward with purpose setting up a wonderful finish from Ella Toone. Both sides battled hard and had opportunities but after 76 minutes, Everton equalised after a miscommunication by United goalkeeper and her defender which led to an easy tap in. However, there would be one more chance for Ella Toone which was just about saved by Everton’s keeper. The results sees the Red Devils remain in 5th place with their next match against league leaders Arsenal looming.

Birmingham City vs Aston Villa
0-1
Young rising Lioness star, Maz Pacheco once again started for Villa at left back in the second derby of the Women’s Football Weekend. Maz provided the first chance for Villa after a wicked cross from a corner that was nearly put in, but they did manage to convert the next one at the far post making it 1-0. The Blues pushed for an equaliser, but Maz and Villa’s defence stood strong managing to earn their third win of the season from 7 games.
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Leicester City
1-0
Molly Pike started her 7 consecutive game for the Foxes who were still seeking the first win of the season against a tough Brighton side. Molly nearly provided the assist for the opening goal after a lovely through ball from the midfield, but her striker couldn’t convert. Leicester was unlucky not to score a few times, but it was Brighton who broke the Foxes hearts after a stunning late free kick goal earned them the 3 points.
Championship Week 9
Crystal Palace vs Charlton Athletic
3-2
Fellow FORTE players Millie Farrow and young Aimee Everett started for the Eagles in this great game against Charlton Athletic. They were both involved with the first goal, with Aimee playing a lovely, looped ball over the top and of course Millie was there for the rebound to make sure she scored once again. The Eagles doubled their lead just before halftime making it 2-0. However, Charlton got one back shortly after the restart. Farrow scored her second goal of the game after some great running, dribbling past the goalkeeper and calmly slotting the ball away past 3 defenders in the goal. The game ended 3-2 to Palace as Charlton did manage to grab one back.

Millie Farrow celebrates her second goal in style.
Bristol City vs Blackburn
3-0
Annabel Blanchard started for the Rovers and completed another solid 90 minutes in midfield. Fellow FORTE players Aimee Palmer and Lia Cataldo missed out for Bristol City due to injury, but their team made no mistake in putting away Blackburn. The result sees Bristol move to 5th place and Blackburn drop to 10th.
Lewes vs Coventry United
4-1
Zoe Cross recently back from injury featured in a huge 4-1 win for Lewes. Zoe was involved with the second goal for Lewes after some great build up play from the middle of the park leading to a wonder strike goal. The win sees Lewes move up to 7th place ahead of their game against Sheffield next week.
