To the Road and Beyond: Looking on Towards an Emphatic Road Racing Season
Updated: Sep 8, 2017
With road season rapidly approaching into full swing, many FORTE Sports Management
(FSM) athletes have an array of spectacular events lined up. Recently back from injury, Rebecca Murray has already shown signs of a lustrous career on the tarmac. After recent turmoil with
canceled flights on her way to Munich, she was able to recover and make it to the Jever Fun Lauf start line in Germany with minutes to spare. Murray delivered a strong performance over 10 miles to place 8th against top international competition and officially pry open her road season. As we look towards the Great North Run in Newcastle in a few days on Sunday September 10th, Murray will seek to cement her place as one of the best in Britain over the longer distances as she toes the line for the Women's Elite Half Marathon. After a standout 2017 track season, Adam Clarke will also make an appearance in Newcastle as he competes in the prestigious Elite Mile against Olympic and World level athletes.
We are excited to welcome new FSM athlete and marathon specialist Anna Boniface as she makes her international racing debut in October, where she will represent England over the marathon distance in Toronto Canada. The 26 year old will look to improve upon her outstanding 2 hours 37 minutes effort at the Virgin London Marathon where she crossed the line as first female from the masses, and improve upon her previous personal best by over 8 minutes. The future is bright for Boniface, and we are thrilled to have seen her recently partner with Saucony.
Cross Country man and PhD student Alex Teuten looks onwards to dabble into road events at the Manchester International, which will serve as a exceptional stepping stone in moving toward the prospects of representing Great Britain at the European Cross Country Championships later this year. Teuten's talent has seen him come excruciatingly close to pulling on the GB singlet; the 2017/2018 cross season could see the Southampton native achieve this lucrative feat.
