Championship Week 7
Blackburn Rovers vs Coventry United
3-2
Annabel Blanchard had her best game of the season so far, earning Player of the Match in a thrilling contest against Coventry United. Blanchard started as she meant to go on with her early freekick forcing a good save from the opposition’s goalkeeper. After some pressure, Blackburn were rewarded with a penalty and converted it to make it 1-0. Blanchard was involved again after a lovely turn and played through her striker who couldn’t make it 2-0. After more dominance from the Rovers, Annabel had another one of her powerful free kicks saved by the keeper. Blackburn were ahead again after a fantastic counterattack which featured Blanchard as she narrowly had her attempt saved but her teammate was there to finish off the chance to make it 2-0. Coventry halved the deficit after a long cross and equalised from a very similar opportunity. Blackburn were not to give up and in the 90th minute, Blanchard once again was involved and whipped in one more cross that led to their last-minute winner in a great game for our FORTE player and Blackburn.

Watford FC vs Crystal Palace
2-2
20-year-old Aimee Everett started for the Eagles in the midfield against a winless Watford. Crystal Palace started well and scored first from a wonderful finish. Palace doubled their lead from some great play and continued their dominance. However, Watford somehow squeezed in their first following a scrappy corner and then equalised after a mistake from Palace’s goalkeeper. The game ended 2-2 as Watford earned their first point of the season and Palace remained in 9th place.
Bristol City vs Sheffield United
5-1
The FORTE combination of Lia Cataldo and Aimee Palmer were pivotal in a huge win for Bristol City. Saying this, it was Sheffield United who scored first after a great finish by their striker. Bristol bounced back quickly after Cataldo won the ball back on the left flank pushing her team forward to equalise. 3 minutes later, Skipper Palmer was first to react in the box after a corner and smashed her shot in the bottom corner to double their lead. It was once again, Aimee Palmer who scored her second wondergoal of the season but this time from a corner making it 3-1. The 4th goal for Bristol came from another dangerous delivery from Aimee’s corner that was headed home. Palmer wasn’t done for the night as she made her second assist of the night by volleying the ball high up to her striker who calmly put it past Sheffield’s keeper.

Aimee Palmer celebrates her goals in style.
