Championship Week 6

Updated: Nov 1, 2021

Lewes Women vs Blackburn Ladies

1-0

Annabel Blanchard started and completed the full match for Blackburn in a tough battle on the south coast. Lewes scored after capitalising on a goalkeeping error. Blackburn had a few chances come their way and Blanchard saw her strong effort outside the box saved by the oppositions keeper. In the end, Blackburn failed to equalise and see them drop down to 10th place in the table.

Charlton Athletic Women vs Bristol City Women

2-1

Aimee Palmer and Lia Cataldo started for Bristol City for the 5th consecutive time. Early on, it was Palmer who tested Charlton’s goal with a dangerous ball in following her corner and forced the keeper to make a save. Charlton managed to take the lead but Bristol bounced back quickly to make it even and were unlucky to not double their lead after some lovely build up play from Cataldo and Palmer. Later on, Lia made a goal saving tackle following an effort that hit the woodwork from Charlton. Once again, our FORTE players were involved when Palmer had her long powerful long range shot saved as Bristol City put some pressure on the hosts. There was some late drama, Charlton finally managed to put away one of their chances with the winning goal in the 94th minute.

Coventry United Ladies vs Crystal Palace Women

2-3

In this 5 goal thriller, it was Everett and Farrow who came out on top the Palace after a very exciting match. Everett started once again in the midfield for the Eagles whilst Farrow would look to make an impact off the bench. In the end, it was Farrow was involved in the winner after a sharp turn and shot that the keeper saved but it was blasted in at the far post to seal the win the Palace.
