Championship Week 3

Updated: Nov 1, 2021

Blackburn Ladies vs Watford Women

3-1

In her third start at her new club, Annabel Blanchard played her best game of the season so far, getting on the ball and creating early. She was unlucky not to get a goal early on after some nice footwork her first effort just went over the bar. However, this didn’t stop her as she scored her first goal for the club with a smooth freekick during the second half to lead her team to a 3-0 win and move Blackburn up to an impressive third place after 3 games played.

Crystal Palace Women vs Sunderland Ladies

1-1

Both FORTE players Aimee Everett and Mille Farrow started for the Eagles. Farrow went so close to breaking the deadlock when she hit the woodwork on a superb first-time effort. Everett was involved in some lovely build up play from the midfield as they pushed for a goal. Finally, Farrow did score the first goal in true goal poaching style as she was in the right place to slot away a close-range effort; which was her first goal for her new club. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough for all three points as Sunderland equalised as the match ended 1-1.

Liverpool Women vs Bristol City Women

0-0

Aimee Palmer led out Bristol in this hard fought draw alongside Lia Cataldo for their match against Liverpool Women. Palmer put some pressure on the Liverpool goal from a powerful long range freekick that was saved. During this action-packed draw, Palmer was involved throughout with some good passes and tackles in the midfield whilst Cataldo remained solid at left back.
